I am a Pregnancy Yoga and Active Birth preparation teacher. In my classes you will learn active birth and breathing techniques to help you through birth what ever the journey. Each week we learn adapted yoga poses to help alleviate certain discomforts of pregnancy such as back pain, PGP, Sciatica etc as well as prepare you for birth.

Using gentle hip rotations and flowing moves we avoid strain which can be seen in some normal yoga classes. I include work with the pelvic floor to promote elasticity and stability to help with the birth and postnatal recovery.

The class will provide a gentle way of maintaining or gaining fitness and promote general emotional wellbeing and reduce anxiety using relaxation.

Using different breathing techniques we help mums to increase and strengthen their lung capacity for birth and provide nourishment for 'mums to be' growing babies.

My class is suitable from 14 weeks onwards and then I offer postnatal yoga to support women in the 4th trimester.

As part of an ideal complement to your antenatal care, Birthlight certified Perinatal Yoga teachers such as myself specialise in the teaching of yoga for pregnancy and birth preparation. At a time when pregnancy yoga is increasingly offered in fitness programmes, birthlight yoga classes guarantees safety, background knowledge and expertise.

Birthlight is the  first training provider to have been recognised by the British Council of Yoga Therapy (BCYT) and the Federation of Antenatal Teachers (FEDANT).

Birthlight: the name refers to both ‘birthing lightly’ without undue strain, and the spiritual dimension of birth, that is often forgotten.  Birthlight practices are science-based but taught from the heart to nurture the whole person.
