Daventry Museum’s Victorian Fairy Tales Online Theatre Performance

Daventry Museum will again be playing host, albeit virtually this time, to the interactive theatre company Don’t Go Into The Cellar. This summer the theatre company will be recording and sharing their Victorian Fairy Tales performance exclusively with Daventry Museum’s virtual visitors! Whilst the exact date is to be confirmed, plans are afoot for an exciting and interactive run up to the performance which virtual visitors will be able to view via the museum’s website and Town Council YouTube channel.

The interactive and ‘Victorian’ themed theatre company have visited the museum several times before and the reaction to the performances has been wonderful. Audiences young and not so young having enjoyed them immensely; so when April’s fully booked ‘Victorian Fairy Tales’ had to be cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Daventry Museum and Don’t Go Into the Cellar got their heads together to create this exciting opportunity to view the performance online! Contact the museum by email to be added to the invitation list, the performance date will then be shared to those on the list.

On the run up to the performance at the end of July, there will be teasers on the Museum’s social media pages, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, giving virtual visitors clues to the tales being told by kindly Mother Goose. There will also be a drawing competition and prizes for the best Fairy Tale Scene 2020 poster, Daventry Museum want to see a scene from a well-loved fairy tale given a modern twist, how would the characters look today, what would they be wearing? What they be doing and saying differently in their story? Let your imagination run wild! The competition will be spilt into two age categories and will be open to all those 12 and under. Winner’s will be announced at the beginning of August and entries will be shared via social media and the Museum’s website. In order to enter, send photographs of drawing/s to museum@daventrytowncouncil.gov.uk (via an adult’s email address only) along with the child’s name and age, by the closing date 28 July 2020.
