Book Review: The Hug that Had to Hibernate

By VIP Club Member Diana Rodriguez Perez

The Hug that Had to Hibernate, by Danielle Corrigan

A very pertinent book that tells the story of Hug, a hairy brown monster who loves hugging and cuddling above all but, because of a pandemic, must stop doing so. It poignantly takes us through the last couple of years of living with Covid-19 to end on a bright note: social distancing is no longer required and we can hug again!!!

My 4-year-old has loved the story and illustrations and found particularly funny that Hug needed plasters because his arms hurt so much because of all the hugging. Like Hug, she is very much looking forward to hugging our family in my home country again soon!
