Could You Make a Difference to Children’s Lives?
Compass Fostering are an independent fostering agency with a simple goal: to make life long and lasting changes to children’s lives. There is currently a national shortage of foster carers, and we are looking for people who could offer a safe, stable, loving environment for young people who haven’t had the best start in life. Every child deserves a childhood.
Could You Make a Difference to Children’s Lives?
Foster care is a vital service for children who are unable to live with their birth families due to various reasons such as abuse, neglect, or family breakdown. Birmingham is a diverse city with a significant population of vulnerable children and young people who require a safe and supportive environment to call home.
Foster carers provide a temporary home for children who cannot live with their birth families. They offer a stable and nurturing environment where children can feel safe, secure, and receive the love and care they need to thrive. Foster parents play a critical role in helping children to overcome the trauma and difficulties they may have experienced in their lives.
There is a national shortage of foster carers
There is a constant need for foster carers in the Birmingham area, as the demand for fostering arrangements is so high. The shortage of foster carers in the area means that some children may have to be placed outside of their local area, which can be disruptive to their education and relationships.
Foster carers come from all walks of life, and can be single or in a relationship, with or without children of their own- everyone is different! The most important requirement for becoming a foster carer is the ability to provide a safe and stable home for a child or young person.
What is required to become a foster carer?
The things you need to foster are commonly the same all over the England and Wales.
To apply to foster you will need:
* A spare bedroom
* To be over the age of 21
* To have permanent leave to remain or ‘settlement’ in the UK
* To have no illegal offences involving children
At Compass Fostering, our foster carers receive training and support from our expert in-house team along with an extensive online digital library of topics to choose from. Training ensures that you’ll be equipped to meet the needs of the children in our care.
Do you think you could provide children with a safe home? Please get in touch with Compass Fostering and the friendly local team will be happy to answer any of your questions.
