Children’s Alliance are currently calling for a Preconception Care Strategy to benefit parents, children and the wider society. We are delighted to tell you that our Early Day Motion (EDM) has been tabled in the House of Commons by Siobhain McDonagh MP. You can read it here - https://edm.parliament.uk/early-day-motion/60537.

I am writing as your constituent, to ask if you will sign Early Day Motion 816: Preconception Care Strategy, tabled by Siobhain McDonagh MP? https://edm.parliament.uk/early-day-motion/60537

The premise of the Motion is that preconception preparation can address the transmission of disparities and inequalities across the generations to the ultimate benefit of parents, children and the wider society of which they are a part. What is urgently needed is for preconception care to be prioritised in policy content across every Government Department as part of a clearly defined national strategy, available for all and universally applicable, regardless of geographical location or family circumstance.

Such an approach makes sound health and economic sense over the life course and is supported by many leading academics and clinicians in the field as well as health, education and wellbeing professionals working locally and regionally with families.
