Halloween Handprint Craft Activity
Make a pumpkin keepsake craft with your toddlers, preschoolers or older kids this Halloween. Turn their handprints into a ghost, and Jack-o’-Lantern.
Supplies:
* air dry clay
* paint
* drinking straw
* craft stick
* green ribbon
* parchment paper
Tip: Make sure to use parchment paper when rolling out the dough. This will stop the dough sticking to the table and will make it easy for you to transfer it to another area to let it dry for 24 hours.
How to Make a Halloween Handprint Craft
Step 1: Roll the clay out on parchment paper until it’s about 1/2″ thick. Let your little one press their hand onto the clay. You may want to help by applying a bit of pressure to their hand to make sure the handprint makes a clear impression.
Step 2: Use a craft stick to cut the shape of a pumpkin, making sure your child’s handprint is in the middle of the pumpkin. Smooth out the edges of the pumpkin with your fingers (use a little bit of water, if necessary.
Step 3: Use a drinking straw to punch a hole in the stem.
Step 4: Transfer the clay to a dry area. Let it stand for 24 hours until it is dry to the touch.
Step 5: Use acrylic paint to turn the handprint into a Halloween design. It can be a ghost, Jack-o’-Lantern, Frankenstein etc. Paint the rest of the pumpkin orange and the stem brown.
Step 6: Thread a green ribbon through the hole in the stem.
