Review:
The World Made a Rainbow is a lovely, gentle book about a little girl during lockdown who feels sad that she cannot attend school or see her friends. Rather than dwelling on the pandemic, the book puts an upbeat and positive spin on things and focuses instead on the simple joys of painting a rainbow and putting it in a window, which so many children did earlier in the year.
It’s a bright and colourful book and perfectly captures how a four year may be feeling about missing their friends and their school life while giving them hope that things will not be this way forever and that they can still find happiness with what they do have until the ‘rainstorm’ passes.
My four year old has read this book many times and describes it as ‘making him happy’ while my husband said it brought a lump to his throat as he read it out loud to him.
