My First Pre-Writing Skills Activity Book & Writing Pencils Bundle, worth £14.99

Review by VIP Club Member Laura Westley

As a parent of two toddlers, my experience with 'My First Pre-Writing Skills Activity Book and Pencils' has been nothing short of delightful, earning it a well-deserved 5 stars. Several features stood out during our exploration of this activity book, along with a minor limitation that turned out to have unexpected benefits.

The beauty of this activity book lies not just in its engaging content but also in its thoughtful approach to age-appropriate learning. With clear guidance on the types of shapes suitable for each age group, the book serves as an invaluable tool for parents like me, navigating the exciting world of early childhood development.

What pleasantly surprised me was the universal appeal of this book. While I initially intended it for my 3.5-year-old, my 2-year-old eagerly joined in, captivated by the colourful pages and engaging activities. The gradual progression through different shapes and lines effectively encourages pre-writing skills, making it accessible and enjoyable for both toddlers and preschoolers. Another added bonus is it is wire bound so the book lays flat and the children can focus on one page at a time.

One remarkable outcome was my 3.5-year-old's newfound enthusiasm for independent writing. Frustrated by his inability to write his name, he found empowerment within the pages of this activity book and encouragement with the stickers. In just a week, he proudly wrote his name independently, thanks to the confidence instilled by mastering important shapes and techniques.

While the pencils provided were a valuable addition, allowing for multiple attempts at each skill, there was a minor limitation. The pencil marks appeared faint when pressed lightly, initially posing a challenge in visibility. However, this turned out to be a blessing in disguise, offering the advantage of allowing my children repeated practice without the hindrance of overly bold marks. The pencil was easy to hold and assisted in practicing the tripod grip which is needed for school.

In conclusion, the activity book has proven to be an enriching tool for fostering early creativity and instilling confidence in young learners. Despite a minor quirk with pencil visibility, the overall impact on my children's development makes this activity book a standout choice for parents aiming to nurture their toddlers' burgeoning writing skills.
