Review: CONNETIX 120 Piece Pastel Creative Pack, worth £115

Review by VIP Club Member Abbie McLeod

I was thrilled to try out the Connetix 120 Piece Pastel Creative Pack. I have friends with children around the same age (3yrs+) that have praised magnetic tiles as a long-lasting favourite toy. Since my daughter already enjoys building blocks, I was confident she'd like these too – and I was right!

The tiles arrived in a sturdy cardboard box along with an 'inspiration book', which was quite helpful for generating ideas for building. This was especially useful as my daughter and I often got stuck on building various shaped houses! Inside the box, there were plenty of smaller square tiles, some larger squares, and a variety of differently shaped triangles, all in attractive pastel colours. Since my daughter is still learning her colours, I appreciated the opportunity to practice by asking her to pass me specific coloured tiles as we played.

We wasted no time in unpacking the tiles and letting our imaginations run wild! My daughter found it easy to handle and use the tiles, though she needed some assistance with the larger ones. The magnets on each side made it easy for her to assemble shapes with a satisfying 'snap', although she mostly enjoyed stacking them into enormous towers. Despite a few topples the tiles proved sturdy and survived falls from our dining table.

During their debut play session, the tiles kept my daughter engaged for a solid 40 minutes, offering ample opportunities for solo play due to their ease of use. Since then, she's revisited them multiple times, always coming up with something new to construct. The only drawback is the weight of the packed box, which is substantial for a toddler. We manage this by storing it on a lower shelf within easy reach, and we've had no squashed toes yet.

Overall, I would give the Connetix 120 Piece Pastel Creative Pack 5 out of 5 stars and would recommend it to anyone with children aged 3yrs+.
It's fantastic for solo play, fostering imagination and dexterity, and it's even a sneaky way to practice naming shapes and colours. My husband and I found ourselves enjoying it too, which was a pleasant surprise!
