Review: Dinosaur World Live, Warwick Arts Centre
We had the opportunity to attend the 1pm performance this weekend. Perfect timing for my 6, 4 and nearly 3 year olds to have a bit of lunch before the show.
The Warwick Arts Centre is a lovely venue, the theatre itself was light and airy. Easy access toilets (essential for little ones) and friendly staff to show you to your seat, we had a great view of the stage and it was the perfect temperature for my usually abnormally cold four year old!
The readily available booster seats were a bonus for my two smaller children, though the seating arrangement is well tiered so their view would have been fine anyway.
My six year old was gripped the whole way through, the performance from start to finish kept us all eyes fixed on the stage. The show has quite a few interactive parts which was great for my four year old to feel involved with panto-like 'it's behind you' moments. The girls favourite scene was with the cute baby dinosaur and there was a chance to get up on stage and give it a little tickle behind the ear, unfortunately we were a little bit too far up to be chosen for that but so cute to see the joy on the face of the little girl who was picked out of the audience.
The story is easy to follow and just long enough to feel like you've had a good afternoon but not long enough for 'I'm bored' . What's not to love about seeing gigantic life-like dinosaurs up close!?
I was slightly weary about taking my youngest as she's not quite 3 but with her being so interested in dinosaurs I thought it was worth the risk and I am so glad I took her. She absolutely loved it from start to finish. Although there are a few scarier bits with a huge triceratops and tyrannosaurus rex, it's really well put together so those elements are quickly made fun.
The end of the performance brought the chance to come down to the stage, row by row, to pet a baby t-rex, not an opportunity that comes around too often!
I would definitely recommend to any families if you get the chance to go. It was a really fun, educational and immersive show for any dinosaur or theatre lover.
Warwick Arts Centre is easily accessible with parking throughout the university campus. Seat boosters are available for smaller guests ensuring that everyone enjoys the show!
