Review: Kislingbury Sunnies and Spooks - Sunflower picking

We had a fabulous trip to Kislingbury Sunnies and Spooks today. The weather was looking a bit grim this morning but we took wellies and waterproofs (essentials for a great British summer!) and headed off for some fun in the fields.

We had the opportunity to go to Spooks last year but missed out on the Sunflowers so we were super excited to get the chance to check it out. The field itself has plenty of parking and luckily the weather held off the entire time so no wellies needed. Entrance fee through the tent costs £5.50 which includes 3 stems of Sunflowers, under 3’s are free!

We decided to pick our sunflowers first and explore the play areas after. My seven year old took charge of the trail map, if you find all the objects you can pick up some sweets on your way out, so that gave us something else to do during the morning. My four year old decided on her sunflower immediately (The bendiest stem!) and we had fun trying to spot all the things to tick off of the Sunnies trail.

After leaving our beautiful handful of sunflowers to be wrapped up in the tent, all three littles spent a good half an hour jumping around the hay bales, messing around on tractors and playing in the little wooden houses dotted about.

This year they have transformed a gorgeous train carriage into a little café. What a great addition to the site. I had a lovely coffee, the littles had drinks and shared a sausage roll and some yummy cake. Some great seating outside and also undercover in a marquee so you can sit and enjoy a hot coffee (a rarity this summer!) whilst your little ones play in the sand pit.

Overall we spent a good few hours here, it’s a really great way to spend a sunny (or not so sunny) afternoon. A great one to tick off your summer to do list!

We very nearly took home a huge bumble bee, be careful to check before putting your flowers in the car!

We can’t wait to visit again in October when the pumpkin patch is open.
