Review: Orchard Toys Dotty Dinosaurs, worth £12

Dotty Dinosaurs is a bright, cheerful board game that’s perfect for little ones aged 3 and up. It’s simple to pick up, packed with learning, and—best of all—loads of fun for the whole family.

The game comes with four adorable dinosaur boards, a mix of colourful dots and shapes, and two chunky dice (one for colours, one for shapes). Up to four players can join in, so it’s great for playdates or family game nights.

There are three ways to play, which makes it easy to match the game to your child’s age and offers versatility and replay-ability. In the easiest version, you roll the colour die and match a dot of the same colour. A bit trickier is the shape-matching mode, where you use the shape die to find a matching shape in you dinosaur’s colour. And for a fun challenge, there’s a version that uses both dice—you will need to find a piece that matches both the colour and shape rolled.

It’s a clever way to help kids practise colour and shape recognition, but it doesn’t stop there. Dotty Dinosaurs also helps build other important skills—like turn-taking, following simple rules, listening, and fine motor skills when picking up and placing the pieces. It's very hands-on and visual.

The best part? It never feels like “learning.” Your little ones will be too busy choosing their favourite dinosaur and rolling the dice to notice how much they’re picking up along the way.
