Review: The Stick Man at Royal and Derngate

Review written by Ally Richmond at Toddle About West Northants

A truly magical family show to see this December

We were lucky enough to have the chance to see The Stickman at the Royal & Derngate this afternoon, what an absolutely fabulous show!

I took my five and three-year-old daughters who absolutely love the Julia Donaldson books and the TV short film adaptions, so we were very excited to be able to see this show live.

From start to finish you are made to feel like a part of the performance and not just the audience to it. There are lots of funny bits throughout which are brilliantly adapted for adults as well as children.

My five-year-old's favourite part was when Stickman gets dropped into a river and he meets the fishes. She has been repeating the 'Blubbing Fish' song since we got home.

My three-year-old giggled throughout and just thoroughly enjoyed the Stickman and his antics.

The staging is beautiful and the three actors play all of the parts throughout the show fantastically.

If you get the chance to go and see the Stickman this December I urge you to do so. It was a lovely way to start celebrating the festive season with my children. Yet another gorgeous show thank you Royal and Derngate!
