Review: The Twirlywoos Live! at Royal & Derngate, Northampton

We had the opportunity to attend Twirlywoos matinee show at the Royal and Derngate yesterday.

My daughter is a huge fan of the show on CBeebies so we jumped at the chance to go and see the adorable characters live.

As usual with every show we've been to at the Royal and Derngate, the theatre staff made us feel welcome from the start.

Downstairs in the Royal Theatre, the seating isn't very tiered so I would definitely advise a booster seat for little ones which are readily available at the top of the stairs.

The staging was magical. A lovely set draws your attention to the stage immediately with the flappy birds flying around the audience at the start.

The show is structured like the TV program with the Twirlywoos learning something new about a few topics. The puppetry with the characters is really clever, the puppeteers blend into the story brilliantly. The show from start to finish was really funny and interesting. 

The highlight for my daughter was the second storyline of a pizza shop. The drama that ensues as Chickedy and Chick cause mayhem had her in fits of giggles. 

Great Big Hoo, Toodloo, Chickedy, Chick and Peekaboo have a really fun 55 minute adventure which was the perfect amount of time to keep the attention of my 2 year old. If you get the chance to take your little ones, it's such a great show. 5 stars from Riley, Aged 2.
