Visit Hughenden National Trust and enjoy getting closer to nature. Set off exploring the gardens, take on our activity trails, build a den in the woods or discover the secret stories of the manor house. 

The beautiful formal gardens are full of wildlife to notice, from red kites soaring high in the sky to butterflies fluttering from flower to flower. In the woodlands there are towering trees of all shapes and sizes to explore. Add a picnic in the parkland and you’re set for a fantastic day surrounded by stunning views and the sweeping landscapes of the Chiltern hills. At family friendly Hughenden have a full day of fun in the stunning countryside.

Our apple orchard has benches for picnics, there are perfect lawns on the parterre or wide open spaces in our pleasure grounds where you can put down a blanket in the sun or under the dappled shade of the trees. 

Our new woodland play area has been carved from giant fallen trees with rope walkways, wood stepping stones and hideaways to explore. 

With the shelter of the tall trees, the grounds at Hughenden are an ideal place to play in any weather. There are walks and hikes through the woodlands to discover with four waymarked paths which range from 1 mile to 4 miles long. 

There’s a café, shop, toilets and parking at Hughenden. Open all year round.
